If we really mean no, then it’s wonderful to have the skills to be able to express that. You can’t say yes to everyone and everything and do all of it well. When you take on too many or the wrong things, you waste time, energy, and money and distract yourself from what’s really important. Still, no one wants to anger or disappoint colleagues or other contacts—or, worse, turn down key career and life opportunities. I’m constantly learning to use the word and not feel guilty. I think we all need to be reminded no is an okay thing to say.
